About

Do you fancy getting involved?

Amateur dramatics is not just about being on the stage. Here at Carnon Downs Drama Group (CDDG) we are great believers in doing as much as possible ourselves; that way we get the best challenges. It would be easy to put on a good show if we hired in all the scenery, props and costumes but it would also be very expensive and like many people, CDDG has to watch the pennies carefully.

Of course we are always on the lookout for good actors and if “strutting your stuff” on stage sounds just up your street then give us a call, pop along to an audition, rehearsal night or better still come and see a show and talk to us. However if the call of “Act one beginners please” fills you with terror then don’t panic, as any CDDG member will tell you, a successful show is all about teamwork, both on and off the stage.

Am-dram is not just about acting there are lots of ways you can get involved. No matter what your skill level from complete novice, mildly competent to the very experienced jack of all trades and master of none, you can join in the fun, tear your hair out, wonder why there is never enough time, panic, laugh a lot and share in the camaraderie of CDDG – there is nothing quite like it. We are a friendly bunch and always need of an extra pair of hands especially when we are working on a show (which is just about always) so don’t be shy, get in touch.

Here are some of the “things” that you can get involved with and remember you don’t need to be an expert, just be enthusiastic.

Acting, prompting, direction, choreography, music, assistant everything, publicity, scenery painting, set design, set construction, stage management, costumes, props, chaperoning, make-up, making cups of tea, eating biscuits and much, much more.

We rehearse and have stage work activities at The Perranwell Centre most Sundays between 2pm & 5pm so why not pop in and see us. Alternatively you can email any member of the CDDG committee or call our information hotline on 01872 862063.

If you would like to become a member of Carnon Downs Drama Group, our membership form can be downloaded here.

We look forward to hearing from you.
